Fiction Writing/Critical Writing Sometimes I believe that i'm a better critical writer than a fiction writer. Critical being lengthy essays critiquing literature through a number of perspectives. My favorite lens: a Marxist/Feminist perspective, tracks the money and social classes in a text as well as the female body, what is done to it, how it is portrayed, used or bruised, romanticized or fetishized, objectified or owned. I might very well be a better critical writer than a fiction writer after all, but I want to cultivate the skill for fiction.
I enjoy writing genre: YA Romance, Fantasy, etc. I want to try writing more Scifi, and experimental fiction in the future. I love drama, but humor as well. I, for one, think I'm absolutely hilarious, but not everyone agrees with or understands my dry sense of humor. If more people were like me, the world would be a better place. If you took that last sentence seriously, then the first sentence pertains to you. |
